About The Cryer
What is The Cryer?
The Cryer was started in 2002 as a website to showcase our firstborn. Since all the grandparents live eight hours away, it provided a quick and easy way to chronicle her growing and changing. It was my online scrapbook.
When we were expecting our second child, The Cryer was in major need of an overhaul. Where as the first version was mainly photos and video, I hoped to incorporate more stories as well. So The Cryer was transformed into a blog.
The Original Cryer has been absorbed into the current blog format. So even though this blog started in March 2005, it contains the content from The Original Cryer dating back to October 2002.
Why The Cryer?
We did not find out the sex of either of our children before they were born. So when the first pages of The Original Cryer were created I simply plunked them out on my site with a quick title of “Cryer.” It captured what we were in for with a newborn and was a nice play on “Town Crier,” all while maintaining a unisex front. It was catchy and the name stuck. The “The” came along when it came time to purchase a url.
Who is The Cryer?
Darn good question. It isn’t the kids, or else the site would be called The Cryers. Technically it could be me, since I’m the Mom and a sap. But it’s not. It is just the name of the website.
Ok, so who am I? I am your narrator. My name is Nikki and I’m a 30-something stay-at-home-Mom to Jayne and Wesley, and wife to Chris. I’m not the only blogger here though, sometimes the dog, Ripley throws in his two cents worth too.
