Christmas Songbird

Jayne’s turn at the MDO Christmas program was brilliant. Being the old and experienced Pre-K wonders, they got to both open and close the program. They opened with a play where Jayne was Mary. She got to hold the plastic baby Jesus and exclaim, “I name you Jesus!” Although it was more like, “I name you Jesuth!”

Needless to say, the program was adorable. Here’s Jayne in her Mary getup.

Then after the rest of the classes had performed, Jayne’s class was marched back out to sing several songs. Our little performer really got into the stage thing. She was good and loud, and was sure to pull focus from the rest of the children. Shocked? No, me neither. Click for more and watch Jayne in action.

Angel… or Devil?

This year’s Christmas program at the kids’ Mother’s Day Out school was Wesley’s first year to be on stage. His class dressed up as angels (complete with wings and halos) and sang songs. I use the term sang loosely.

It was chock full of all the stereotypical kid program mishaps. There was the one where one kid falls on the way in, and the kid behind him falls on top of him and the the kid behind him falls as well. Yeah, the middle kid that bit the dust was Wesley. Then there were all the songs that kids were supposed to sing, even though half of them were doing their best deer in the headlights impression. Or the one kid who brazenly defied all that had been rehearsed and stood up while the rest of the class sits. Wes was the one kid tempted to the dark side of the lone standing rebel, but thankfully their songs ended. Despite all the comic goodness, Wes was adorable.

One Fall Day

Yesterday the kids “raked” the leaves. Then they went berserk in them. The dog too went berserk, and I took tons of photos. Typically I whittle my photo selections down to a select few to represent an event. Not this time. Today I’m posting all the good ones to tell the story of the day. So after clicking for more you’ll see a ba-zillion photos.

Also, Ripley and I have teamed us as co-narrators on this post, because he was very active during this day as well. That and he hasn’t been around in a while. So the comments will be from me or Rip, like this:

M: These are comments from me. M is for Mom… not for “Me.”
R: Woof. Whatever… let’s get going, shall we?
M: Alrighty then. You heard the Poodle… (more…)

Got a new camera with fabulous new video capability. My video capability now far outshines what this blog is capable of displaying. So this file is huge… not sure what the best way to post bigger better video is. Until I figure something out, you just gotta see Wesley. This is definitely worth the wait on the download!

Destin: Breakthroughs

Both kids flipped switches while on our trip. For Jayne all it took was putting on her goggles (or gogglers as she refers to them) and all the sudden being under water was extremely desirable.

She still has propulsion issues as you can see in the video below. However, that was the first day she ever wore goggles and ever swam underwater. Now she’s progressed to jumping into the pool from a running leap.
